Withthe next version of , you will be able to customize your lock screen like never before. Apple showed up it is rolling out with iOS 16 during the keynote in June.
These new features will allow you to auto-rotate a set of lock screen images, enable filters, change font type and color, add widgets, and more. If you’ve been waiting for the opportunity to free yourself from Apple’s traditionally limited customization capabilities, this upgrade will be a welcome one.
Theversion is if you don’t want to wait for the general release of iOS 16 this fall to try out the new features.
Here’s how you can customize your lock screen in.
To customize or add a filter to your lock screen image, simply hold down the image and tap Personalize. From there, swipe left or right to choose from different styles, filters, and fonts. If you want to go beyond the suggested styles offered, you can further customize by tapping any item on the lock screen. For example, if you want to change the font or color of the time, you can tap the clock to do so.
You can also add widgets directly to the lock screen if you want to have information like weather, activity ringtones, or calendar events at a glance. You can press the plus sign under the clock to reveal Widget Gallery. Then just drag the widgets you want from the gallery onto your lock screen.
Once you’ve customized your lock screen to your specifications, you can tap Do in the upper right corner to save it.
You can also create a whole new look from scratch. Swipe right on the lock screen to reveal a new wallpaper gallery with different collections and preset designs for you to choose from. Or you can choose from your own photo library.
If you want to browse a series of photos throughout the day, you can choose the Shuffle photos option. You can browse the Suggested pictures library to find smartly curated photos from your photo library.
